The Central Election Commission of Georgia has announced the following results of the presidential election held on 5 January.

1. Total number of voters: 3 527 964
2. Total turnout: 1 982 318
3.  Number of invalid ballot papers: 33 129

1. Levan Gachechiladze: 25.69% (509 234)
2. Arkadi Patarkatsishvili: 7.10% (140 826)
3. David Gamkrelidze: 4.02% (79 747)
4. Shalva Natelashvili: 6.49% (128 589)
5. Mikhael Saakashvili: 53.47% (1 060 042)
1. Giorgi Maisashvili: 0.77% (15 249)
2. Irina Sarishvili: 0.16% (3 242)

So, President Saakashvili has been re-elected.

There was also a referendum on whether parliamentary elections will be held in spring of this year and 69.8% voted in favour.
