What is semi-presidentialism?


Semi-presidentialism is where a country’s constitution makes provision for both a popularly elected fixed-term president and a prime minister and cabinet who are responsible to the legislature



The assumption


The list of countries with semi-presidential constitutions is very heterogenous. We should not use semi-presidentialism as an explanatory variable. We need to distinguish between different types of semi-presidentialism and explore the effects of each type
